Statement of circumstances
The item was issued for an authorized assignment at an approved date-of-duty in the Vesuvius District.
During corrective fieldwork the item became archaeologically available.
The assigned officer returned at the conclusion of the assignment. The item was recovered 1,669 years later and was entered into inventory 278 years after that.
The issue manifest records one handset. The assigned officer’s return report records a variance at the number issued. The variance is within tolerance and is not addressed by this report.
Determination of loss
Loss is defined in Directive 6.3 as an interruption in the chain of custody of Bureau property.
The chain of custody records:
